Bradley Michael Eustice was
born May 3, 1954 at Waseca, MNGeorge Eustis Jr.. He attended elementary school
in Waseca first at Central and later at Hartley (5th and 6th grades). As a high
school student he participated in football, wrestling, baseball and track.
As a senior, he was co-captain of the
Waseca High School football team. Brad had the distinction of having been
elected president of his class during each of the four years he was in high
school. He graduated from Waseca High School in 1972 and was awarded an academic
scholarship to attend St. John’s University at Collegeville. At St. John’s, he
was an All-State winner in wrestling and football. He had the honor of playing
on the 1976 national championship football team that was coached by John
Gagliardi, who now holds the record for the most wins in college football.
During the years Brad was at St. John’s, the football team held the national
record for the most consecutive wins. Brad wrestled under coach Pat Hawes, who
also had an impressive record, with an undefeated squad in 1971-72. Coach Hawes
died of a heart attack at the 1972 National Catholic Wrestling Tournament. Brad
took a year off from college in 1975-76, and served as a coach’s assistant at
Apollo High School in St. Cloud. Returning to St. John’s in the fall of 1976,
Brad student taught at Apollo in 1977. Brad graduated from St. John’s in 1977
with a major in English and a minor in Education.
Brad married Mary K. Sinner at
Castleton, ND on June 16, 1979. Brad and Mary Kay went to Winooski, Vermont
where Brad was enrolled in a Master’s program at St. Michael’s College. While at
St. Michael’s, he served as head football and ski coach and served as a
substitute teacher for Mary Kay at Belvedere and Waterville Elementary Schools
when Mary Kay had pregnancy complications. Brad has taught every grade from
first grade through college and has taught every elementary or secondary subject
except shop.
Mary K. Sinner attended Lincoln
Elementary School in Castleton, North Dakota and Central Cass High School where
she graduated in 1972. She then enrolled at the College of St. Benedict’s at St.
Joseph, Minnesota where she graduated in 1976 with a major in Elementary
Education and a minor in French. Mary K. taught two years (1977-79) at St.
Bartholomew’s Catholic School in Wayzata where she started the French Language
Department. Mary K has served in various capacities as a volunteer. In 1991,
Brad and Mary K moved to Shoreview, a suburb of St. Paul where they are living
in 2004. Most recently, Mary K has taught at Turtle Lake Elementary School and
in the Mora Public School system. In 2001, Mary K was offered a position at Blue
Cross/Blue Shield where she serves as a Senior Service Representative.
Brad and Mary K. Eustice are the
parents of three children; Molly Margaret Eustice, born March 11, 1980 at
Burlington, VT; Donald Michael Eustice, born December 22,1981 at Milwaukee, WI
and Grant Alexander Eustice, born February 25, 1987 at St. Cloud, Stearns
County, MN. Brad Eustice is a descendant of John Eustace/Eustice born at
Ballymahon, County Longford, Ireland in 1833, who emigrated to New York in 1850.
John and his father James first settled at Mapleton, Waukesha County, Wisconsin.
Following John Eustice’s marriage to Ann Jewison at Mapleton, they moved to
Janesville, Waseca County, Minnesota in 1869.
