Who's Who? Ellsworth "Sam" Eustice of Penn Valley, California
Ellsworth Martin “Sam” Eustice, son of Ellsworth Edmund Eustice and Rose
Francis Martin was born in 1933 at Gilroy, California. He attended the Gilroy
elementary schools and a year and a half of Gilroy High School.
Transferring to Menlo School for Boys, he graduated from there in 1951. He
entered Cal-Poly at San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo County, California, and
spent 3 years as a mechanical engineering student before entering the Air Force.
He served four years in the Air Weather Service, with duty in Greenland and at
Davis Monthan Air Force Base near Tucson, Arizona. Following discharge from the
Air Force in 1958, Ellsworth returned to school and then became employed by
Varian Associates in Palo Alto, Santa Clara County, California where he met
Peggy Taylor. His marriage to Peggy lasted 12 years until she became ill and
passed away July 1, 1974.
On September 11, 1976, Ellsworth (also known as Sam) married Barbara Pryde. They
lived in Cupertino, Santa Clara County, California until Ellsworth retired from
Varian Associates in 1985 as Manager of Advanced Planning for the Radiation
Division. In 1985, they purchased a Coast to Coast hardware store in Gridley,
Butte County, California, which they successfully operated until 1995 when they
sold it and retired again.
In 1985, Ellsworth and Barbara moved to Penn Valley, Nevada County, California
with their two cats, Rosie and Jasper. They currently live at 18962 Lake Forest
Drive in Penn Valley.

Sam Eustice keeps busy managing a website for “The Friends of Nevada County
Animals, Inc.”, a non-profit corporation. This site which he updates twice week,
lists animals eligible for adoption that are housed at the Nevada County Animal
Shelter. Sam is also co-chairman of the Western Nevada County Ostomy Support
Group and also manages a website for this group. This group has had a lot of
Ostomy supplies donated to it and gas been very successful in providing them to
needy people around the United States and Canada. The success of this program
has led to the organization of “Osto Group” which intends on provide ostomy
supplies at a reduced cost along with free supplies to those people with out
insurance coverage. (www.ostogroup.com). Barbara keeps busy in her yard after
spending three days a week working for Network Real Estate in Nevada City,
Nevada County, California.
