Alice Eustace; not married; age about seventeen years, Lady, living at Stradbally, Athy Union died 11 June 1870 of phthisis (three months) certified. William F. Eustace of Stradbally was present at death which was recorded June 14, 1870 in the Stradbally District, Athy Union, Queen’s County. Alice Eustace was born about 1853.

 

2. Anne Eustace,                                             65        New Ross                    4          675

Anne Eustace; married; age about 65 years, farmer’s wife, living at Ballywilliam, Templeudigan New Ross,  County Wexford, died January 8, 1873, of asthma from which she suffered ten days. Edmond Eustace was present at the death which occurred at Ballywilliam. The death was recorded on August 18, 1873 by James Rickerby, Registrar.

Anne Eustace was born about 1808.

 

3. Bridget Eustace,                                         25        Dublin, North              7          437

Bridget Eustace; spinster; age about 25 years, occupation servant, living at the Royal Dublin Lunatic (R.D.L) Asylum, died 5 June 1870, of suffocative catarrh from which she suffered three days; certified. Maria Horan was present at the death which was recorded on 11 June 1870 at District No. 3, North Dublin Union, City of Dublin.

Note: Bridget Eustace was born about 1845.

 

4. Catherine Eustace,                         80        Carlow                        13        281

Catherine Eustace, age about 80, a farmer at Castlemore, Fenagh Parish, County Carlow died 7 September 1870 of old age, no medical attendant present. Catherine was a widow. Mary (her X mark) Hologhan of Tullowbeg was present at her death which occurred at Castlemore and was registered by Robert Burnett, Registrar, on 14 September 1870 in the District of Tullow, Carlow Union.

Note: Catherine Eustace was most likely Catherine McAssey, the widow of William Eustace of Castlemore.

 

5. Edward Eustace,                                        63        Carlow                        18        296

Edward Eustace, age about 63, a farmer at Castlemore, Fenagh Parish, County Carlow died 10 December 1870 of facial cancer which had lasted twelve months. Edward was married. Ruth Anna Swain was present at his death which occurred at Castlemore and was registered by Robert Burnett, Registrar, on 16 December 1870 in the District of Tullow, Carlow Union. Edward Eustace of Fenagh is listed in Griffith’s Valuation.

 

6. Ellen Eustace,                                             18        Carlow                        18        291

Ellen Eustace, age about 18 years, a spinster at Rathrush, Fenagh and Myshall Parish, County Carlow died 2 December 1870 of gastric fever, three weeks, (uncertified) and typhoid fever, 15 days (certified on 20 December 1870). Mary (her X mark) Eustace of Rathrush was present at her death which occurred at Rathrush and was registered by J.W. Fryer Registrar, on 19 December 1870 in the District of Fenagh and Myshall, Carlow Union, County Carlow.

 

7. John Eustace,                                             0          Dublin, South              17        467

Richard Eustace, son of Patrick Eustace and Catherine Thompson; died at about one year of age in 1870; he was born 6 July 1869.

 

8. John Eustace,                                             1          Kilrush                        19        205

John Eustace, son of a laborer (cooper) John Eustace and Margaret Price, died on October 13, 1870 of diarrhea in Kiltumper, Kilmihil, Kilrush, County Clare.  His father, John, was present at his death.

9. Margaret Eustace,                                     55        Dublin, South              2          673

Margaret Eustace, a spinster, age about 55, a servant, died 28 January 1870 at the Hospital for Incurables of Phthisis Pulmonalis, certified following ten days of hospitalization. James (his X mark) Welsh of the Hospital for Incurables was present at her death which was registered by G.T. Chapman, Registrar, on 7 February 1870 in the District of Donnybrook, Union of Dublin South.

 

10. Mary Eustace,                                          52        Dublin, South              17        539

Mary Eustace, a widow of a coal porter, age about 52, died 30 November 1870 No. 1 Spring Garden Lane of sudden heart disease, not certified, no medical attendant present. Mary McCarton of 44 City Quay was present at her death which was registered by L. Byrne, Deputy Registrar, on 1 December 1870 in District No. 4, Union of Dublin South.

 

11. Oliver Eustace,                                         64        New Ross                    14        481

Oliver Eustace, age about 64, married; a tailor living on Robert Street, New Ross, County Wexford died 22 September 1870 of lung congestion which had lasted three hours; medical condition certified. Richard Eustace was present at his death which occurred at Robert Street and was registered 30 September 1870 in the District of New Ross, New Ross Union, County Wexford by J. Barron, Registrar. Oliver Eustace is listed in Griffith’s Valuation living at St. Mary’s, New Ross. Oliver was born about 1806.

 

12. Oliver Eustace,                                         72        Carlow                        18        291

Oliver Eustace, age about 72, a farmer at Myshall, County Carlow died 23 November 1870 of paralysis which had lasted two weeks. Oliver was married. Margaret Eustace was present at his death which occurred at Myshall and was registered 29 November 1870 in the District of Fenagh & Myshall, Carlow Union. Oliver Eustace of Myshall is listed in Griffith’s Valuation.

 

13. Richard Eustace,                                      1          Waterford                   14        517

Richard Eustace, a male child of a messenger living at John Street Waterford, died of diarrhea, six days (uncertified) at age about fourteen months on August 16, 1870. Patrick Eustace of John Street was present at the death which was registered August 19, 1870 in the Waterford District, Waterford Union, and County Waterford.

Note: Richard Eustace was a twin to Edmund who died August 3, 1866. They were sons of Patrick and Catherine Thompson and were born 2 January 1865.

 

14. Simon Eustace,                                         72        Kilrush                        4          286

Simon Eustace, a farmer at Gowerhass, Kilrush, County Clare, was born about 1798 in Gowerhass and died of bronchitis March 2, 1870.  He married Bridget McNamara about 1830.  Bridget died in 1886.  Their children included: John 1928 (from his previous marriage to Mary O’Keeffe), Michael born 1829, Simon born 1831; Mary born 1833; and Bridget born 1839.  His brothers are believed to be John, Patrick and Michael Eustace from Gowerhass and Knockerry East and Mary Eustace McMahon from Tullagower.

15. Thomas Eustace,                          68        Tulla                            4          424

Thomas Eustace; widower; age about 68 years, labourer, living at the Tulla Workhouse, County Clare, died 5 February, 1870 of phthisis (one year) certified. Edward Baker, Chief Resident Officer, Tulla Workhouse, was present at death which was recorded 10 February 1870; James Molony, Registrar.

 

16. (Male) Eustace,                                         0          Dublin, North              17        394

Male child, son of Charles Eustace, brushmaker of 38 Bishop Street, Dublin and Mary Anne Whittingham died in 1870.
