Bridget Eustace nee Dufficy, was
born about 1853, and died in Cartron, County Roscommon on 23rd
February 1901, aged 48 years. She married John Eustace, a farmer
who was born circa 1848 in Kings County, although no record of
this marriage was located. John was at one time a Royal Irish
Constabulary (RIC) Officer, but had left the force by 1886 when
his occupation was listed as an RIC Pensioner at the birth of
his son Michael Joseph. John and Bridget had issue: Henry
Francis Eustace, born on 24th February 1883, in
Cartron; Eva Eustace, born on 26th November 1884, in
Cartron; Michael Joseph Eustace, born on 22nd
September 1886, in Cartron; Thomas Eustace, born in Cartron,
baptized on 15th August 1890; Mary Kate Eustace, born
on 8th February 1892, in Cartron and baptized on 13th
February 1892. Catherine Dufficy, age 45, occupation housekeeper
and described as a sister-in-law is listed with the John Eustace
family on the 1901 census which was taken on 31st
March 1901. Catherine Dufficy was probably the sister to Bridget
who had passed away only a week earlier.

Note: Bridget Eustace nee Slay
married Patrick Eustace, laborer on ________. They were the
parents of a son named Patrick on April 7, 1901.

years old, widow of a harness maker, died of chronic bronchitis
and asthenia (certified) on March 8, 1901 at 116 Townsend
Street, South Dublin Union. P. Starkey, son, was present at the
death which took place at 116 Townsend Street. The death was
registered 9 March 1901 by J.P. Quinn, assistant Registrar.

daughter of Miles Keogh, car man, married George Eustace,
soldier, of 2 Eastmoreland Place, son of James Eustace, saddler,
on November 1, 1872 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Chapel,
Haddington Road, Donnybrook.

disease of knee joint (12 months) and exhaustion (7 days),
certified. Teresa Eustace, sister, was present at the death

registered 5 February 1901 by ___ Byrne, Registrar.
Note: Ellen Eustace, daughter of
George Eustace and Ellen Starkey nee Keogh was born 26 October
1875.

Laurence Eustace, son of James
Eustace and Margaret Slavan of Derryoughter, Monasterevin,
County Kildare, died in the third quarter 1901. Laurence was
baptized 6 June 1824 at the Roman Catholic Church of
Monasterevin and worked as an agricultural laborer. He married
Elizabeth Ellard, on November 2, 1852 at Monasterevin, County
Kildare. They were the parents of a daughter Bridget born about
1871 who married John Dunne on August 6 1888 at the Roman
Catholic Chapel of Monasterevin, County Kildare and had at least
three children; Mary, Bridget and Lizzie. Laurence Eustace age
76 and his wife Eliza, age 70 are listed on the 1901 census.

the death which was registered in the Monasterevin District,
Athy Union of County Kildare on 1 November 1901, A. Darby,
Assistant Registrar. Laurence was baptized _______at the Roman
Catholic Church of Monasterevin.

Wicklow, died 7 February 1901 of old age, (no medical attendant
present). Patrick (his X mark), son was present at the death
which occurred at Knockbane. The death of Oliver Eustace was
recorded 18 March 1901 by K. Reilly, Registrar. Born about 1817,
he was the son of Christopher Eustace and married Honor (Oner)
Conlon/Connellan on 22 October 1850 at Valleymount. Honor (Oner)
Eustace nee Conlonwas born about 1827 and died August 19, 1873 at age 46 years.
Note: Oliver Eustace born about
1817; He may be the Oliver Eustace living at Lisheens who is
listed on Griffith’s Valuation of 1848-64.

April 19, 1900 to Patrick Eustace, laborer and Ellen Byrne of 34

Quay. Patrick Eustace married Margaret Donohoe. They are listed
on 1901 census at 34 City Quay. This could be either as both
Patrick’s lived on City Quay.
Patrick is possibly
son of Patrick and Ellen Byrne of 34 George’s Quay who was born
19 April 1900.

Infirmary of gangrene of the foot (two months), diabetes (three

1901 at the District, Union and County of Wexford; T. Pierse,
Registrar.
Note:
Patrick Eustace was born in County Wexford about 1831. The 1901
Census of Ireland shows Patrick Eustace, age about 70 living at
House No. 3, Cubslough (Mayglass) in 1901 together with his
daughters Kate, 30 and Mary, 34, both unmarried. Patrick was a
widowed farmer and all family members were Roman Catholic.
