Bridget, daughter of Patrick Eustace, a tailor, and Kate McCarthy died on May 7, 1908, at the age of  one year and three months of gastritis at Rutland Street, Limerick No 2, County Limerick.  This Eustace family lived in Limerick while Mr. Eustace learned the tailoring craft.

 

2. Bridget Eustace,                             1Q       1          Balrothery                  2          325

Bridget Eustace, about one year old, daughter of a laborer of Courtlough, died of pertussis (three weeks), exhaustion, certified on January 14, 1908.  Maggie Eustace, sister was the informant of the death which was registered on January 20, 1908 in the District of Balbriggan, Balrothery Union, County Dublin; W.D. Mullan, Registrar.

Note: Bridget Eustace, daughter of John Eustace, laborer and Anne McDowell was born 22 January, 1907 at Courtlough, Balbriggan, Balrothery, County Dublin.

3. Edward Eustace,                            1Q       88        Waterford                   4          538

Edward Eustace, from John Street, a chandler, age about 88 years old, widower; died March 1, 1908 at the Waterford Workhouse Hospital from senile decay, certified. James Cosgrave, workhouse occupier was present at the death which was registered March, 7, 1908 in the District of Waterford, Number 1, Urban, Union and County Waterford, by J. A. Kelleher, Registrar.

Note: Edward Eustace was born about 1820. The 1901 census shows Catherine Eustace, a 60 year old widow as household head of house 4.2 in John's Lane (Waterford Urban No. 3) County Waterford. Also living in the home were her sons, Thomas, age 30, and Edward, age 27, and daughter Bridget, 25. All were born in Waterford city, unmarried and Roman Catholic. Thomas Eustace was a Solicitors General Clerk, Edward was a general laborer; Bridget had no occupation listed.

 

4. Edward Eustace,                            2Q       28        Gorey                          2          648

Edward Eustace, from Gorey, a gardener, age about 28 years old, bachelor; died June 15, 1908 at Gorey of pulmonary tuberculosis, (six months) certified. Margaret Eustace, his mother, was present at the death which was registered June 26, 1908 in the District and Union of Gorey,  County Wexford.

Note: Edward Eustace was born 12 Oct, 1880 to John Eustace, blacksmith and Margaret Cranwell, his wife of Knockina, Gorey, County Wexford.

 

5. Elizabeth Eustace,                          4Q       68        Abbeyleix                    3          217

Elizabeth Eustace (nee Delany), of Derreen, a laborer, age about 68 years old, widow; died October 1, 1908 from senile decay, (one and one half months), certified. Stephen Eustace, of Dereen, her son, was present at the death which was registered October 5, 1908 in the District of Durrow, Union of Abbeyleix, Queen’s County, by Daniel O’Brien, Assistant Registrar.

Note: Bessy Delany, daughter of Denis Delany, a laborer of Doreen, Queen’s County married Patrick Eustace, son of Stephen Eustace, a laborer on February 14, 1870 at the Roman Catholic Chapel of Doreen. The 1901 shows Elizabeth Eustace, age 60, a widow as the head of household of house number 1, Dereen and Carrowreagh (Aghmacart, Queen's Co.). Also in the home her were sons Stephen, age 28, and Patrick Eustace, age 25, both agricultural laborers. All family members were Roman Catholic.

 

6. Hannah Josephine Eustace,            4Q       70        Cork                           5          94

Hannah Josephine Eustace, age about 70 years, spinster, no occupation, died 4 December 1908 at 21 South Terrace, Cork City. The cause of death was listed as cardiac embolism (one half hour) and varicose veins (five years), certified. Mary Leahy of 3 Evergreen Road, Cork, was present at her death which was registered on 7 December 1908 in the District, Union and County of Cork by Patrick J. Hayes, Registrar.

7. John Eustace,                                  3Q       75        Kilrush                        4          188

John Eustace from Knockerra, Kilrush, County Clare, a married laborer, died of chronic heart disease on March 29, 1908 in Union Hospital, Kilrush.  John Eustace is believed to be the husband of Mary O’Donnell Eustace who died in 1902.  However, it appears John remarried.

8. John Eustace,                                 1Q       59        Gorey                          2          714

John Eustace, age about 59, married, of Gorey, County Wexford, a laborer, died of tubercular disease of the knee on March 13, 1908 in Gorey.  John Eustace of Gorey, his son was present at the death which was registered 16 March 1908 at Gorey; M.C. Nolan, Assistant Registrar.

9. Martin Eustace,                              1Q       3          Waterford                   4          531

Martin Eustace, age about three years, of Lady Lane, Waterford, a laborer’s son, died of shock from an accidental burn on December 22, 1907 at the city and county infirmary. 

The information was received from Geo. Mackey, J.P. and W.R. Ward, J.P; an inquest was held December 24, 1907 and the death (Number 304) was registered on January 3, 1908 at the District of Waterford, No. 2, Urban, County and Union of Waterford; J. A. Kelleher, Registrar.

Note: Martin Eustace was born July 3, 1904. His parents were George Eustace and Eliza Purcell.

 

10. Michael Eustace,                          1Q       25        Kilrush                        4          227

Michael Eustace from Knockerry was single and a laborer.  He was the son of John Eustace and Mary O’Donnell.  He died of phthisis on January 3, 1908 in Union Hospital, Kilrush, County Clare.

11. Peter James Eustace,                   4Q       0          Galway                       4          150

Peter James Eustace, age about five months, of Lower Salt Hill, a decorator’s son, ied of primary meningitis (8 days and 12 hours) plus secondary asthenia (six days), certified on October 13, 1908 at Salt Hill, County Galway. James Eustace, father of the deceased was present at the death which was registered on December 12, 1908 at the District of Galway No. 2, Union and County of Galway; Thomas Lydon, Registrar.

Note: Peter James Eustace, son of James Eustace, decorator and Maria O’Flaherty, was born 3 June 1908 at Lower Salt Hill, Galway City, County Galway.

 

12. Simon Eustace,                             3Q       77        Kilrush                        4          194

Simon Eustace, son of Simon Eustace and Bridget McNamara, was the husband of Bridget Crotty.  He died on September 16, 1908 in Gowerhass.  He is believed to be buried with his wife in the Kilmacduane/Cooraclare Cree Graveyard  - (see Bridget Eustace died 1903).  Their children included: Mary, born 1870; Michael, born 1871; Thomas, born 1873 who farmed in Gowerhass; John,  born 1875; Catherine, born 1876; Mary, born 1876; Patrick, born 1878; Mary, born 1878; Simon, born 1880; James, born 1882 and Richard, born 1887.

13. Teresa Eustace,                            2Q       19        Edenderry                   3          341

Teresa Eustace, spinster, age about nineteen years, Farmer’s daughter of Coole, died of pulmonary tuberculosis (two years) no medical attendant present on June 8, 1908. Mary Troy of Coole was present at the death registered on June 26, 1908 at the District of Rhode, Edenderry Union, Kings County; M. Ennis, Registrar.

Note: Teresa Eustace, daughter of Christopher Eustace, farmer and Mary (Catherine) Rigney was born at Coole, Rhode during February 1889.

14. William Eustace,                          1Q       80        Gorey                          2          712     

William Eustace, widowed blacksmith, age about eighty years, of Ballymoney, died of senility no medical attendant present on January 11, 1908. Thomas Redmond of Ballymoney was present at the death registered on February 10, 1908 at the District and Union of Gorey, County Wexford; F. Nolan; Registrar. William Eustace was born about 1828.

Notes: William Eustace; age 38; bachelor; blacksmith; of Ballymoney, Gorey District, Wexford; son of John Eustace; blacksmith, deceased; married Margaret Sunderland; age 30; spinster; no occupation listed; of Ballyscartan, Gorey, County Wexford; daughter of Michael Sunderland, deceased; farmer; on 18 February, 1878; Roman Catholic Chapel of St. Michael, Gorey, Wexford; Witnesses: William Brien & Maria Sunderland; Celebrant: William O’Neill, C.C. (This would make William born about 1840). The 1901 Census of Ireland lists William Eustace, blacksmith, age 62, married, living at Ballymoney Lower (Courtown). He was a Roman Catholic and could read and write. Margaret Eustace of Ballymoney, County Wexford died at Enniscorthy, 6 November 1903, aged 60; she was the wife of a blacksmith.
