Anthony Eustace, son of Christopher Eustace, Caretaker, and Ellen McCabe of Croghan, King’s County died in 1918 at age 15. He was born March 30, 1902.

 

2. Daniel Eustace,                               2Q       69        Dublin, North              2          403

Daniel Eustace, a US military pensioner, age 69 years, died of heart failure on 4 April 1918 at 13 Father Matthew Square, Dublin. Mary Eustace, his niece was present at his death. Daniel never married and is listed on the 1911 census living at 27 Church Street, Inn’s Quay, North Dublin in the home of John Eustace, age 36, iron worker, a widower. Daniel Eustace was John Eustace’s uncle and a US Army pensioner. Daniel Eustace enlisted in the US Army, 59th New York Infantry Regiment on May 12, 1864 in New York City. The 59th New York included recruited mainly from the streets of New York City and its environs. Daniel Eustace was discharged June 30, 1865 at Munson’s Hill, Virginia at the expiration of his term. During 1864 and 1865, the 59th Regiment fought at the Wilderness, Spottsylvania, the North Anna, Totopotomy, Cold Harbor and Petersburg, Virginia campaigns. In actions before Petersburg, at the Weldon Railroad, Deep Bottom, Strawberry Plains, Reams' Station, the Boydton Road, and Hatcher's Run, over 200 of the regiment were killed, wounded or reported missing. The regiment lost 141 by death from wounds and 130 from accident, imprisonment or disease, of which 64 died in Confederate prisons.

 

Daniel Eustace re-enlisted in November 1876 at New York City and served a total of three five year terms in the US Engineer’s Battalion. He was discharged November 11, 1891 and held the rank of Private. He was admitted to the US Veteran’s Home on October 14, 1893 and remained until June 18, 1895. The record shows he was suffering from disease of the chest and Catarrh as well as varicose veins in his left leg. He was re-admitted to the Veteran’s Home, Hampton, Virginia on April 2, 1904 and remained until September 27, 1906. Daniel Eustace was 5 foot six inches tall, of light complexion, had blue eyes, light hair, could read and write and was Catholic. He was single, listed his residence as New York City and occupation as laborer. He listed his closest relative as Michael Eustace, brother of 27 Church Street, Dublin, Ireland.

Edward Eustace, age about 43 years, a bachelor, occupation Labourer, died 20 November, 1918 at Union Hospital, Waterford, of asthma influenza, 14 days (certified). Margaret Couch, his niece, was present at his death at Bank Lane. The death was registered at the Government Registry Office (GRO) on 26 November, 1918; J. Delahunty; Registrar.

Elizabeth Eustace, age about 82 years, spinster, no profession or occupation listed, died 12 March, 1918 at Tranquilla, Rathmines, County Dublin, of carcinoma (liver), 3 months (certified). Mary J. Fitzsimmons of 14 Rathmines Terrace was present at her death. The death was registered at the Government Registry Office (GRO) on 16 March 1918; J. Mason; Assistant Registrar.

 

5. Frederick Thomas Eustace,           2Q       48        Dublin, South              2          446

Frederick Thomas Eustace, age about 48 years, married, gas engineer, died 13 April 1918 at 7 St. John’s Road, Sandymount, Donnybrook District, South Dublin, of myocarditis (heart failure), 1 year and 3 months (certified). F. Hickey was present at his death at 7 St. John’s Road, Sandymount. The death was registered at the Government Registry Office (GRO) on May 2, 1918; A. Evans; Assistant Registrar.

 

6. John Eustace,                                 3Q       84        Kilrush                        4          165

John Eustace, a retired cooper and husband of Margaret Price, who lived in Kiltumper, Kilmihil, County Clare, died September 20, 1918.  His son Patrick Eustace was a tailor on Vandeleur Street Kilrush.  Headstone inscription:  EUSTACE  HIS erected in loving memory of John Eustace died 20th Sept 1918 84 years also Gerard Eustace died Nov 10, 1922 aged 6 yrs also Pat Eustace died Jan 1, 1938 age 64 years his wife Katherine died Mar 20 1950 age 74 yrs. RIP.

7. John Joseph Eustace,                     3Q       0          Kilrush                        4          164

John Joseph Eustace, son of tailor Patrick Eustace and Kate McCarthy, died at the age of 24 days on July 24, 1918, of debility from birth on Vandeleur Street, Kilrush, County Clare.

8. Margaret Eustace,                         1Q       71        Dublin, North              2          395

Margaret  Eustace, age about 71 years, silver plater’s widow, died March 22, 1918 at 26 Denmark Street, Dublin North, of old age and bronchitis, 6 days (certified). M. Wynne, daughter was present at her death at 14 Lower Denmark Street. The death was registered at the Government Registry Office (GRO) on 23 March 1918; E. P. Eustace; Registrar.

 

9. Mary Eustace,                                4Q       26        Edenderry                   3          371

Mary Kate Eustace was born during October 1891 in King’s County to Christopher Eustace and Anne (Ellen) Description: cleardot[1]McCabe of Croghan. She died in late 1918. Influenza? Civil records list her age as 26 years.

10. Richard Eustace                                      Kilrush

Richard EUSTACE from Gowerhass, the son of Bridget Crotty and Simon Eustace of Gowerhass; was a Private in Company K; 18th Infantry,and was killed in battle October 2, 1918.  Richard had immigrated to the US.

11. Robert Eustace,                            3Q       23        Dublin, North              2          381

Robert Eustace, age about 23 years, a bachelor, occupation carpenter, died August 22, 1918 at 16 Norfolk Market, North Dublin, of pulmonary tuberculosis (12 months) and cardiac failure (certified). Robert (his X mark) Eustace, his father, was present at his death at 16 Norfolk Market, Dublin North. The death was registered at the Government Registry Office (GRO) on August 24, 1918; E. P. Eustace; Registrar.

Note: Robert Eustace was born 27 December 1893. He was the son of Robert Eustace, a cabinetmaker and Margaret Ellis of 27 Denmark Street, Dublin.
