Magloire Remillard & Cordelia Cote Family

GENERATION VIII

Magloire⁸ Rémillard Sr Guillaume¹, Francois², Francois³, Augustin⁴, Pierre⁵; Remi⁶; Jean-Baptiste ⁷;  (Jean-Baptiste Remillard and Angele Manaigre);  Magloire was born December 28, 1851 (baptized December 29) in St. Cuthbert, Quebec. His godparents were Remy Remillard and Judith Chevrette.  He married Cordelia Cote, born May 5, 1854, (daughter of Joseph Cote & Marie Boissy); at Woonsocket, Rhode Island on 12 February 1872. They moved back to St-Cuthbert in November 1872 because the first child was born in 1872 at St-Cuthbert. They remained at St. Cuthbert until 16 November 1888 when Magloire sold the Remillard homestead to his sister Exilda and her husband and went to Manitoba in 1889 or early 1890. He then moved his family to Lorette and bought a farm a short distance from his brother Urgel. Magloire Remillard died in St. Boniface on 15 June 1928 and is buried at Lorette. Cordelia Cote died 15 October 1910 and is also buried at Lorette at age 76. Cordelia died October 18, 1910 in Lorette, age 56. Magloire and Cordelia were married thirty-seven years. Note that their son Magloire returned to Quebec to be  married at St-Cuthbert in 1895. Exilda’s grandson Jules Lavallee was the present owner of the Remillard farm during early 2000’s. The house built by Remi Remillard in 1831 was still standing on the original farm in the early 2000’s. Magloire and Cordelia had six children born in St. Cuthbert: Wilfred, Magloire, Simeon, Octavien, Urgel, and Alfred.  The two children Raoul and Clerinda were born in Lorette.

 

Magloire Remillard and Cordelia Cote had the following children: 

1.      Wilfrid; born 20 Feb. 1872 and died 1 Jan 1877, shortly before his fifth birthday in St-Cuthbert;

2.      Magloire Jr; born 22 February 1879 at St-Cuthbert; married Rosalie Laurin on 25 June 1895 at St-Cuthbert, Berthier County, Quebec; died 11 May 1956 at St. Boniface, Manitoba;

3.      Simeon; born 2 April 1880 at St-Cuthbert;

4.      Joseph-Octavien; born 24 October 1881 at St-Cuthbert;

5.      Urgel; born 16 February 1883 at St-Cuthbert;

6.      Alfred; born 25 December 1888 at St-Cuthbert;

7.      Raoul; born 14 July 1890 at Lorette, Manitoba; died 11 September 1970 in St-Boniface, Manitoba; he married Flavie Brabant, 22 Dec 1920 in St-Boniface, Manitoba; she was born 2 Jan 1899;

8.      Clarinde; born 25 Dec. 1894 at Lorette, Manitoba;
