Mrs. Mary McAndrews, well-known and respected lady
of Burnsville 74 years of age, died suddenly May 31, 1946 at her home in Burnsville, Minnesota.
She had been under the doctor's care for sometime but she was able to be
up
and around doing housework until the day of
her death. She was stricken with a heart attack about 0:00 o'clock in
the morning and died at 1PM. Funeral services
were held Tuesday June 4 1946 at St. John’ the Baptist
Catholic Church, Savage, with burial in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bud Hayes, Pat Gallagher, Thomas Corrigan, Joseph
Hynes, William Connelly and Joseph Kennelly.
Mary McAndrews was born at Kiltimaugh Townland,
Parish of Knock County Mayo, Ireland on
May 31, 1872, and came at the age of 18 to live in America with her
aunt, Mrs. Tom Walsh who lived in Burnsville township.
On May 31, 1898, she was united in marriage Patrick
McAndrews, who died March 21, 1925. To this union six children
were born who survive their mother. they are; Bartley at home, John and
Mary (Mrs. John Hynes) of Rosemount; Ann of Chicago; Margaret (Mrs. John
Corrigan) of Farmington and Agnes (Mrs. Gilmore Nelson) of Los Angeles.
She is also mounted by six grandchildren, one sister, Margaret Hayes of
Savage; one brother; Michael of Philadelphia, Pa all of whom were
present at the funeral.
The many floral and spiritual bouquets bore silent
tribute to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. she will not
only be sadly missed in her home but the community will feel the loss of
a kind friend and neighbor.
